Application for Graduation Form

Change of Name and Nationality
The Change of Name and Nationality form allows students to alter their name or nationality in the LAU systems based on a valid form of ID (ex: passport).
Uploading the ID document is mandatory.
In case the nationality is being changed to US citizenship, then the student must also upload a copy of his/her Social Security card and a filled-out W9 form.
Change of Program (Freshman Arts/Freshman Science)
The Change of Program (Freshman Arts/Freshman Science) form is used when a Freshman Arts student wants to change her/his program to Freshman Science or vice versa.
Declare a Major (Freshman Students - Undeclared to Major)
The Declare a Major (Freshman Students - Undeclared to Major) form allows Freshman or Undecided students (who did not have a declared major when joining LAU) to declare for a major.
To submit this form, the student must have completed at least 26 credits of freshman requirements or present the Official Lebanese Bacc or Bacc Equivalence.
Permission for Arabic Substitution for Eligible Students Only
The Permission for Arabic Substitution for Eligible Students Only form allows students to submit a request to substitute the Arabic course required in their CAPP degree evaluation.
The student must attach the following documents in the form:
- Permission to undergo/join Freshman program from the Lebanese Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MEHE)
- And/or a statement from the student’s high school if eligible
Course Substitution
The Course Substitution (Major Requirements/University Requirements) petition allows students to substitute a course which is required by their program on their CAPP degree evaluation by another course.
Tutorial Course
The Tutorial Course petition allows students to request registration for a course that is currently not offered at LAU. To submit the form, students must download and fill out the Registration Form and the Schedule Change Form and attach it to the request.
- Students may apply for a tutorial course petition in their junior and senior years in the School of Arts & Sciences and the Adnan Kassar School of Business or during their last two years in the professional schools, provided they have completed at least 30 semester credits at LAU with a GPA of 2.50 and above or are graduating with a bachelor’s degree and the required course is not offered at LAU.
- Permission may be granted to a student to enroll in a tutorial course if all of the following conditions apply:
- The conditions in point 1 are met.
- A substitute is not currently offered at LAU.
- The school approves the student’s petition before the beginning of the semester.
- No student may take more than two courses as tutorials during his/her undergraduate program. These credits shall not be taken in one semester. Non-graduating students should take, along with the tutorial course, at least nine other credits in regularly scheduled courses (for fall/spring semesters) or at least one other regularly scheduled course (for summer terms).
- Applied courses (labs and studios), and courses being repeated/failed, shall not be taken as tutorials.
Follow New Curriculum
The Follow New Curriculum petition allows students to submit a request to change their curriculum for the program in which they are enrolled.
To access this petition, the student must first contact the Registrar’s Office, explain her/his case to the Graduation Unit, and ask for access to submit this petition.
Credits Overload Petition (GPA <3.0 AND Not Graduating)
The Credits Overload for Fall/Spring (GPA<3.0 and Not Graduating) petition allows students to request taking more than 18 credits in a fall/spring semester on condition that:
- The student’s GPA is between 2 and 3
- There are no incomplete courses in the student’s CAPP degree
- The student is not expecting to graduate in the same term
This petition is accessible only during specific time periods, specifically after the registration period ends and before the drop/add period.
Credits Overload Form (GPA>3.0 AND/OR Graduating)
The Credits Overload for Fall/Spring (GPA>3.0 and Graduating) form allows students to request taking more than 18 credits in a fall/spring semester on condition that:
- The student’s GPA is above 3
- There are no incomplete courses in the student’s CAPP degree. Some exceptions apply for this condition with respect to the School of Arts and Sciences (such as capstones/internships/projects/research)
- The student is expecting to graduate in the same term
This form is accessible only during specific time periods, specifically after the registration period ends and before the drop/add period.
